Honeymooners (Part II)

After our relaxing stay in the condo, Ethan and I drove to Long Beach where we left on our cruise to Catalina Island and Mexico. Neither one of us, nor our families, had ever been on a cruise before, so we had no idea what to expect.

The ship was really big, which doesn't make sense because our room was really small.

I was most excited for the towel animals. Earlier in the year, I had to learn to make them for an event I was planning, so I was excited to see them made by the pros.

Dinner on the ship was delicious! But much to our surprise, it was pretty formal, so we looked pretty silly showing up in shorts and a t-shirt the first night. I always got the chicken or steak, Ethan was a lot braver than me. He ate frog legs, escargot, alligator bites and all kinds of fish on the ship!

Our first full day on the cruise was spent at Catalina Island. The cruise makes it sound like they have to travel all night to get there when it's only like 30 miles away from where we first left the day before. To get off the ship, we had to get on these boats to take us from the cruise ship to the island. Here's the size comparison.

When we got to the island, it was a bit windy, so we didn't want to go into the water. Instead we took a submarine tour! Since it was kind of during lunch time, we were the only ones which meant we got to move around to look out whatever window the fish were swimming by. There were so many fish! It was beautiful.

We spent 'happy hour' on the island and took advantage of their $1 tacos for lunch. Delicious.

I love this picture because it is extremely accurate.
Ethan always finishes getting ready way before I do,
then he patiently waits while I finish.
This still happens almost daily in the mornings before school.
We are now huge fans of comfy robes to lounge in.

I think we clean up rather nicely.

I called the cruise ahead of time and told them we would be on our honeymoon, so they told us that they would bring out a special dessert on the formal night for us to celebrate. As we were sitting there, I saw our waiter walking over to me with a white hat thing... (see above) I thought maybe it was supposed to symbolize a veil since I was a bride. Unfortunately, he must have thought it was my birthday because within seconds the entire restaurant was singing happy birthday to me. I'm not one to get embarrassed, but I was mortified having so much attention on me when it wasn't even my birthday. My half-birthday was a couple days away, so I just pretended that was the cause of the celebration.

Dessert that night was creme brule and chocolate cake.
They were both beautiful and delicious as Ethan and I shared them both.

We ended the night overlooking a vacant deck.
It was the quietest the ship was all week.
