In honor of six sweet months, I thought I would write about my six favorite things about Ethan. It was hard to pick just six because I seriously adore this boy.
1. I love that Ethan takes the time to surprise me when I'm having a bad day. Sometimes, it's having dinner ready when I get home from work, sometimes it's surprising me with my favorite flowers, and sometimes it's ironing the table cloths for the party I'm planning without me even asking. He even surprises me by supporting my spontaneity by driving me out of town for a few days, trying my new recipes or partaking in a couples massage for Valentine's Day.
2. I love that Ethan is okay with walking around a craft/party store with me for hours. Sometimes, (fairly often, actually,) Ethan and I will go to Hobby Lobby and look at home decor. I fall in love with just about everything, and after spending 2-3 hours walking around, I usually end up so overwhelmed that I just put everything in our full cart back. I always plead for Ethan's forgiveness with frustrated and guilty tears in my eyes. And every single time, he puts his arms around me and says, "Don't say sorry, it will work out one of these times."
3. I love that Ethan wants to spend his time with me. I work 9-5 on campus every day and he spends the thirty minutes in-between his classes to come have lunch with me. Some days, I don't have time to make a lunch, but he comes anyway because he says that's his favorite way to spend his time. We are even taking a ballroom dance class together this semester. This was definitely at my request, but he says that he likes that we get to have one last class together before I graduate. He is totally fine staying at home all day if it means I am there with him.
4. I love that Ethan includes me, always. He calls me when he wants to make a big purchase and makes sure I agree with the decision. He will call me while he is at the local soda shop to see if I want a Diet Dew and then will bring it to my third story office. He calls me when something exciting or stressful happens. Sometimes, he calls just to talk or brings me a treat just so he has an excuse to see me. He will never go to the candy store downtown without bringing me something sweet.
5. I love that Ethan makes me a priority over everything. He prioritizes me above his school work, his classes, his friends, and sometimes even his own feelings. Ethan supports me in every crazy decision I make and will come to my rescue at any given time, no matter the consequence he has to face. He has left classes early to go to funerals with me and missed classes to accompany me at job interviews. He comes home to check on me when I'm home sick even though it means he might have to park far away from his next class. When it is freezing cold in Rexburg, Ethan lets me sit in the car while he scrapes the ice off the car windows in freezing cold weather. Ethan loves me, and he loves to prove it to me.
6. I love that Ethan does everything in his power to keep me smiling. Sometimes, we will stay in bed for hours on Saturday mornings because Ethan is making me laugh hysterically at the crazy things I make him say or do. While I am trying to eat healthy, Ethan eats ice cream in the kitchen instead of the table or couch to be considerate to me. This always makes me laugh, but I so appreciate it. He buys me the Justin Bieber album even though he knows that I will listen to it on repeat from now until forever. Ethan lets me turn the living room into a craft area, he lets me pick the t.v. show, and he buys the tiny asparagus at the grocery store even when it's not on sale.
There is a quote about marriage that hangs in our bathroom and I love it. The first part of it says, "If you want something to last forever, you treat it differently." Ethan has shown me, in countless ways, that he definitely wants us to last forever. I know this because he has treated me so differently than anyone else ever has.
Happy Six Months, Love. I am so happy to call you mine forever.
You guys are wonderful!
