Wedding Day: The Entrance, The Shoe Game, The Cake & The Toasts

Our entrance was supposed to be grand, but it wasn't planned or executed very well (my fault). We came in to Jason Derulo's "Want to Want Me" and it was a lot of fun. The bridal party came out dancing and then Brooke and Preston came out with a sign introducing us.

After sitting down to eat our salads and enjoying a few bites, Ethan and I went into the middle of the floor to play 'the shoe game' hosted by my uncle, Jason. Basically, Ethan and I each had our shoe and the other person's shoe and Jason would ask us questions like "who sings in the car more?" or whatnot and we would raise the shoe of the person we thought fit the answer. It was goofy, but pretty fun. I laughed the whole time. It was fun to see and hear the audience's reactions too.

We told everyone in our bridal party that they could give a toast if they felt so inclined. Ethan and I's brothers and dads as well as my sister, Shelby all came up to give a toast. Some were sweet, some were funny, and some were a little weird, but it was fun hearing what everyone had to say. Here are some pictures that crack me up. I was the queen of facial expressions that day!

Now onto the cake, it was absolutely gorgeous. Holy cow! I am not a huge fan of cake, but I definitely wanted one because it's tradition, beautiful, and Ethan loves cake. The top tier is still in my mom's freezer for our one year anniversary.

It was a three tier cake. The top level was plain vanilla, the middle layer was chocolate with a raspberry filling and the bottom was vanilla with bavarian cream and fresh strawberries. I can't say that I tasted it, (besides the bite that went in my mouth...) but with just that one bite, I knew was delicious.  Yum! Some of our family friends made it. They used to have their own bakery, so they baked and decorated the cake for us and I am so grateful. It was beautiful!

Ethan and I agreed way before our wedding that we would not be the ones to shove cake all over each other. I know some people don't mind it, but I spent hours getting ready that morning and we were wearing expensive clothes... mine being pure white in particular. I smeared a little on his nose and he kept his promise, so all was well in the world.
